Via The Pittsburgh Post Gazette, A federal judge in Pittsburgh ruled Monday that the non-life-sustaining business closures, restrictions on outdoor gatherings and stay-at-home orders mandated by Gov. Tom Wolf and Secretary of Health Rachel Levine to mitigate COVID-19 are unconstitutional.
Liberties guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution cannot be subordinated even during times of an emergency, United States District Judge William S. Stickman IV wrote in his opinion, and the Constitution cannot accept the concept of a “new normal.”
“The liberties protected by the Constitution are not fair-weather freedoms — in place when times are good but able to be cast aside in times of trouble. There is no question that this Country has faced, and will face, emergencies of every sort,” Judge Stickman wrote. “But the solution to a national crisis can never be permitted to supersede the commitment to individual liberty that stands as the foundation of the American experiment.”
Rather, Judge Stickman wrote, “the Constitution sets certain lines that may not be crossed, even in an emergency,” and actions taken by Mr. Wolf, a Democrat, and Dr. Levine “crossed those lines” and are unconstitutional.

Early voting in some states is reported to have begun. It is September folks, surely people that want to vote by mail have plenty of time to mail a ballot in so the vote can be counted on November 3rd. Why would any state legitimately extend the deadline? Set the date and if the ballot arrives it is counted, if not the ballot is not counted. Individual responsibility for getting the ballot in on time. In the worst case scenario, that ballot(missing due being lost in the mail) will not be counted. Perhaps it would serve as an incentive to turn it in /mail it in with time to spare!

How many states are covered by this federal judge’s ruling? I imagine just PA since that probably is the only state cited inbthe suit brought to him. Too bad it doesnt apply to more states, since almost all states enacted similar unconstitutional lockdown orders from mayors, to governors to state and local health department officials. When will the federal courts make a similar ruling that can be applied nationally and end this craziness!!
