Gianfranco Zola has told Thomas Tuchel where he believes Kai Havertz’s best position at Chelsea is.
Havertz scored the only goal of the Blues’ 1-0 Champions League final victory over Manchester City on Saturday evening, with the Germany international playing on the right of a front trio.
After signing for huge money from Bayer Leverkusen last summer, the 21-year-old has played in various positions in the attacking line, including as a ‘false nine’.
Havertz did show glimpses of his undeniable talent as the centre-piece in the front three, but according to Chelsea icon Zola, Blues boss Tuchel has now discovered the position that “suits him”.
“I waited a long time, I just want to thank my family, my parents, my brother, my sister, my grandmother, my girlfriend. I don’t know what to say
We deserved it, now we celebrate.”
He added: “To be honest, right now, I don’t give a [explicit] about that [being the most expensive player],” Havertz said.
“We won the [explicit] Champions League and we’re celebrating right now.”
