Jorginho is one of a number of Chelsea players who benefitted immensely from Thomas Tuchel replacing Frank Lampard as Blues manager in January.

Under the former boss, Jorginho was in and out of the team and started just eight of the first 19 Premier League games this season.

Since Tuchel took charge, the Italian has been integral to Chelsea’s style of play and only missed two of the German’s 18 league matches in charge. The central-midfielder even finished the season as the Blues top-scorer in the Premier League.

Jorginho played every minute of Chelsea’s run through the knock-out rounds of the Champions League, bar the second leg against Atletico Madrid for which he was suspended.

here is no arguing that the midfield duo have performed to an extremely high level and the good news for Blues fans is that it looks like it will continue for at least another two seasons, according to Santos.

“He has two years left in his contract,” he added.

“Chelsea have many targets for 2021-22. The Champions League, the Premier League, the FA Cup, the European Super Cup, so we are planning to stay there.”
