Manchester United’s hopes of signing Declan Rice this summer could be ended if reports of West Ham’s latest valuation are true.

The Daily Mail claim Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is an admirer of Rice, but that officials at Old Trafford have become increasingly concerned over the possibility of a move for the 22-year-old because of the London club’s hefty valuation, believed to be around £100m.

However, the MEN understands that Rice would be interested in a move to United after the defensive midfielder enquired with some of the Reds’ players on international duty with England in March about what life at the club entailed.

“I don’t agree with the owners that Declan Rice is a £100m footballer. Far, far more than £100m,” Hammers boss David Moyes previously said.

The Daily Mail also report that Solskjaer has drawn up his transfer shortlist this summer, claiming that Rice, Pau Torres, Raphael Varane and Jadon Sancho are his targets, with the latter believed to be identified as his priority signing once again.

Sancho was close to joining United last summer but negotiations with Borussia Dortmund eventually broke down, but United are refusing to rule out a move for the 21-year-old right forward, who could solve their lack of depth in that position.

It’s said United remain frontrunners to sign Sancho despite interest from elsewhere, namely Chelsea, and it’s believed that Dortmund would be happy to sanction an exit for the youngster if the price is right.
