The transfer window is now officially open and Manchester United are free to begin their summer business.
It’s expected to be a busy window for United as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer hopes to make a number of improvements to his squad, especially at right-back, centre-back, defensive-midfield and right-wing.
A new centre-back is a priority with United expected to go ‘all out’ for a partner to Harry Maguire and the club have held exploratory talks with Raphael Varane’s representative.
Latest reports in Spain claim Real Madrid have lowered their asking price for the Frenchman and could let him go for as little as £42.9million.
Another player repeatedly linked with a move to Old Trafford is Tottenham striker Harry Kane and former manager Jose Mourinho believes the England captain should play where he is happiest.
“I think he has to play where he is happy. And I think he is happy in England. He is a very Premier League guy,” Mourinho told The Sun.

Pogba breaks silence on Manchester United future and PSG transfer speculation
Paul Pogba has denied that talks have been opened between his representatives and Manchester United over a new contract.
Pogba enjoyed perhaps his finest spell of form since returning to United in the latter half of this past season but his contract at Old Trafford will expire at the end of the next campaign.
United opted to trigger a one-year extension in his contract last year but have not yet been able to tie their star midfielder down for longer, leaving the 28-year-old free to start negotiating with teams outside of the Premier League from January 2022 onwards.
United ‘see Trippier bid rejected’
Football Insider claim United have submitted an opening bid for Kieran Trippier, but it has been rejected by Atletico Madrid.
MEN Sport understands United have revived their interest in the England right-back this summer as they look for competition for Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
It’s claimed that a ‘source’ suggests United offered roughly £10million for Trippier but the opening gambit was turned down.
