Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel wants to add four players to his squad this summer, with Dortmund striker Erling Haaland the German’s first choice centre forward target.
Roman Abramovich is set to give Tuchel significant funds to spend this summer after understandably being impressed by the German’s work in his six months at the club.
Tuchel guided Chelsea back into the top four, to an FA Cup final and to Champions League success after replacing Frank Lampard in January.
That saw Tuchel rewarded with a new deal and a significant pay increase but Chelsea’s board want to further demonstrate their belief in the former Dortmund boss by meeting his demands in the transfer market.
The club’s need for a centre forward is well documented and Norway superstar Haaland is Tuchel’s first choice.
The 20-year-old is averaging a goal-a-game at Dortmund and the Bundesliga giants are open to offers for the £150m-rated striker this summer, as his contract includes a £62m release clause that comes into effect in 2022.
Chelsea are reportedly willing to include Tammy Abraham in any deal to sign Haaland, with the England forward valued at around £40m by the Blues.
Chelsea are aware that any deal for Haaland will be costly and difficult but Tuchel’s targets do not stop with the Norwegian.
Tuchel believes Chelsea need strengthening at centre-back, given Thiago Silva will likely play a final season at Stamford Bridge and will need replacing.
The German favoured a back three for the majority of last season and he feels he needs a right wing-back to compete with Reece James in order for the system to be effective, as Cesar Azpilicueta is more adept at right centre-back.
Tuchel’s final wish is to sign a new central midfielder. Chelsea are open to offers for Jorginho and the German wants a box-to-box midfielder to compete with N’Golo Kante and Mateo Kovacic.
Chelsea have been linked with Wolves winger Adama Traore as an option at wing-back.
