What is Backerkit? 5 Tips for a Successful Kickstarter Campaign

Backerkit is a third-party backer management software that helps creators run more effective pre-order campaigns by streamlining the post-campaign process of handling backer data and rewards.

Creators can use Backerkit to manage everything from backers’ shipping addresses to tracking the production of exclusive rewards, all in one place.

Backerkit has a free and paid version, but the free version comes with several limitations: only 200 backers, no add-on sales, and an upload limit of 5GB (although you can pay for additional storage). This article will give you an overview of how to use Backerkit as well as some tips on how to get more out of it.

Sign up for Backerkit

The first step to using Backerkit is signing up for an account. To create an account, go to backerkit.com and click “Create Account”. You’ll be prompted to enter your email, create a username and password, and provide your payment information.

The last part is providing payment information but it is optional. You can choose to pay for the service later, but it’s good to have a payment method on file so you can start using the service right away.

Managing backer information

Backer data is the lifeblood of any pre-order campaign. If you don’t have the correct information for your backers such as their shipping address, you’ll have a hard time fulfilling their rewards. That’s why managing backer information is crucial.

Backer data is stored on the Contacts page. The page can be accessed from the left-hand menu on the Backerkit dashboard. On the Contacts page, you can view and edit the contact information for your backers.

Backer information is crucial for the next step in the pre-order process which is creating a pre-order campaign. To add a backer to a campaign, click on their name, and then click “Add to Campaign”. Backer data will be imported into the campaign.

Creating a pre-order campaign

A campaign is a group of rewards that backers can purchase. Campaigns can be pre-order, crowdfunding, or a mix of the two. Backerkit automatically creates a campaign when you set up a pre-order campaign.

The campaign will show up on the Campaigns page in the left-hand menu. To view your campaign, click on Campaigns in the left-hand menu. You’ll see a Campaign page that lists your campaign details, including backer information, the number of rewards, a pledge amount, and your funding goal.

Backerkit makes it easy to add new rewards to your campaign. After clicking on your campaign, click “Add Rewards”. You’ll be prompted to select the type of reward you’re adding: product (for a physical product), service (for a digital product), or an add-on.

Tracking production and shipping

Backerkit makes it easy to keep track of the production and shipping of your rewards. You can view your products on the Products page and see their current status: whether they’re being manufactured, estimated shipping date, or if they have been shipped. On the Products page, you can also click on “Add to Campaign” to add a product to your campaign.

Add-on sales

This is one of the best features of Backerkit, the ability to sell add-ons during your campaign. To add an add-on to your campaign, click on the Rewards page, and then click “Add an Add-on”. You can add any product to your campaign by clicking on the “Import” button.

Backerkit makes managing backer data and running a pre-order campaign very easy. Creators can use it to track the production and shipping of their rewards, as well as sell add-ons during their campaigns. It’s free to use with a few limitations and is well worth signing up for.
